Abstract


The Arab context as a macro socio-historical reality in the process of the Quran's downfall, certainly affected the style of the Quranic language. The Quran in the revelation phase was a direct response to the Arab community in a very specific locus. Therefore, according to some ccommunity, the style of the Quranic language was influenced by the language and tradition of poetry that developed in Arabia at that time. However, the majority of the Quranic scholars did not agree with this. According to them, the language of the Quran was far beyond the language of the poets and experts in Arabic literature at that time. Kinayah and ta'ridl, for example, were unique in the style of language and communication possessed by the Qur'an and are believed to contain aspects of the i’jaz
